Erinn Sneed was working in a daycare center when she realized that many children struggle with self-image. The children of color she worked with did not see images of children who looked like them in their play environment, and she felt that these kinds of images would be beneficial. So she used her artistic abilities to create pictures of black children the students could color. Soon after this led to her decision to design a coloring book, featuring black characters and thus “The Black Crayon” was born. Erinn has since developed many more coloring books in “The Black Crayon” series. These all serve as Erinn’s contribution to solve serious self-esteem issues within our children.
Erinn has added a new subject to her collection: veganism. Her new book “Vegan I Am” touches on the connection between climate change, clean water, world hunger and what we eat.
